Private house Germany.

Location: Neuss,Düsseldorf. Germany

Area:130 m2

Year: 2024

This house is located in Germany, in the town of Neuss, near Düsseldorf. The project was created for a young family who travel extensively and frequently relocate from one country to another.

This is our second project with this family, and despite the fact that the house is rented, our shared goal was to create a warm, truly homelike environment—one that reflects the life, character, and personality of its residents.

We aimed to design a very light interior, with white walls serving as a neutral backdrop and an emphasis placed on furniture, lighting, and decorative elements.   As no construction work was involved, the project was conceived primarily as a styling and decoration-focused design.

It became clear that creating a sense of comfort and richness, and expressing the individuality of the homeowners using only furniture, light, and carefully chosen details, can be just as complex and demanding as designing an interior from the ground up.

The clients wished to enliven the space with warm materials—wood and natural textures—and to introduce subtle Asian influences, reflecting their recent move from sunny Singapore to a more restrained, and at times rainy, Germany.

In this interior, we sought to bring together warmth and the relaxed southern spirit of Asia, adding hints of a Balinese atmosphere (our very first collaborative project was located in Bali), while integrating elements of contemporary, slightly more understated Berlin style, gently balanced by Scandinavian simplicity.

It was particularly fascinating to observe how the clients’ vision of their future home evolved as they gradually moved closer to Europe — the project began while the family was still living in Singapore. Their aesthetic sensibility became increasingly European, enriched with new layers and references: at times expressed through the desire to find an authentic, heirloom-style chest of drawers, and later, after relocating, through visits to local flea markets in search of objects with history and character.

For us, this project was an extremely valuable experience. Because the essence of our work lies not merely in creating interiors, but in creating a true home — a space where people genuinely feel comfort, calm, and emotional security, even if the residence is temporary. A home is, above all, a feeling — one that is essential, wherever you may be.
